It’s true that hoverboards have taken the world by storm. However, it is also true that they can be a little bit dangerous. Luckily, we have hoverkarts. These simple and yet somehow necessary hoverboard attachments make riding your favorite toy a lot safer and dare I say funner – wait that’s not a word.
I’m not sure when exactly hoverboard attachments exploded, but am I glad they did. Nowadays, there are as many hoverkarts as there are hoverboards, and if you want to know which is the best self-balancing scooter on the market, you are in luck.
However, we are talking about hoverboard attachments right now, and with there being so many, it can be hard to find the right one. That is why I am here – to help you in every possible way I can to shorten that admittedly intimidating list of brands.
I will go over the best features in the best hoverkarts as well as some of their drawbacks. In the end, I will tell you everything I have learned from my research for this review to maybe help you find a product that is not on the list. In a sense, this will help you distinguish the good and the bad.

The 10 Best Hoverboard Attachments
Despite being a relatively new toy, hoverboards and, by extension, hoverboard attachments have taken the world by storm. I think that this growth will only continue. I can see how in a hundred years, hoverboards and hoverboard attachments will still be around, growing and changing. Let’s not forget that this product is still at its infancy, and I cannot wait to see what will come of it.
1. Supersale Hoverkart – Most Maneuverable Hoverboard Attachment
Hello there! Let me take a wild guess and say that you are tired of standing up or, more likely, your kid is. The good news is we live in the future, so you don’t have to. The bad news is… actually, there is no bad news.
The Hoverkart attachment will turn your self-balancing scooter into a hoverboard go-kart so you will never have to stand before going anywhere ever again. This hover kart attachment – as you will soon find out – is a bit different than the rest of them.
You see, the manufacturer, SuperSale, has decided to put the hoverboard at the front of the go-kart attachment, instead of the back, as most other manufacturers do. They claim that this will allow for more maneuverability and an all-around safer experience. Quite frankly, I tend to agree with them.
With the steering and the hoverboard located at the front, around the midsection, you can take corners more fluidly and avoid any unnecessary crashes. Even if you do crash, the hover go-kart is made with some heavy-duty materials which give it that extra layer of durability, so it will be safe, and you will be too if you wear your safety gear.
The best part of this electric scooter seat attachment is that you can use it as soon as you get it. While most hoverboard go-karts require you to fully assemble them, the SuperSale one only needs you to attach the seat itself, and then you are good to go. Likewise, the length and height of the attachment are fully adjustable, so even dad could use it with no problems whatsoever.
However, it’s not all rainbows and kisses. This particular hoverboard go-kart does have its problems, for example, there have been reports that the weight distribution is subpar, which can cause problems in the future. In the end, I cannot recommend the SuperSale hoverboard attachment to anyone without adding an asterisk. Be careful when using it or any self-balancing scooter for that matter, and maybe don’t let dad sit on it after all.
- Extra maneuverability
- Easy assembly
- Subpar weight distribution
2. Go-Bowen Hoverkart Kit – Best-Designed Hoverboard Attachment
I am going to be honest with you – I really don’t like how most hoverboard attachments look. That’s why I am so excited to talk about the Go-Bowen Hoverkart Kit. This looks like something I would definitely buy for my little nephew.
Out of all the hoverboard kits I’ve seen, Go-Bowen has one of the best designs. No unnecessary screws are sticking out, and the minimalistic look simply adds to the experience. The chair is not a single piece but, instead, a padded cushion with adjustable back support. Instead of simply having two bars where you can place your feet, this hoverboard attachment has proper footrests – ones that you can adjust to your liking.
When I tested this out with my little nephew, I found it surprising as to how comfortable the hoverboard attachment was as a whole. While most of the testing was done by my nephew as I could not get a chance to sit on the hover kart, I still noticed some problems – but nothing major.
The front wheel is capable of spinning at 360 degrees, but it’s on the smaller side and doesn’t absorb much impact. Thus, unless you are riding on a smoothly paved road, you will have an annoying time bumping over stuff, although that can become a game itself – kids can turn anything into a game, even the dreaded assembly.
While this hoverboard go-kart is not the easiest to assemble, it is certainly not the most difficult. In total, from the time you open the box to the time you put it together and the little nephew runs outside with it, it takes only about 5 minutes
All in all, this is a pretty basic hoverboard attachment that lacks some of the features that are present in the more high-end products. However, it is very lightweight, which only adds to the minimalistic experience, not to mention an extremely comfortable ride.
- Minimalistic design
- Comfortable
- Lightweight
- Small front wheel
- Lacking features
3. ULIKEIT Hoverboard Seat Attachment – Best Hoverboard Attachment for Kids
The ULIKEIT hoverboard seat attachment will let you cruise downhill with the ease of a sparrow – no, that analogy does not make sense to me either. However, my point is that if you want maneuverability to your heart’s content, then this hoverboard attachment is for you.
The hoverkart has two perfectly placed handles which make steering a lot easier. It also has two Velcro straps which are used to attach the hoverboard itself. Of course, the seat comes in a few different colors, so you can mix and match with your personal self-balancing scooter.
The front wheel of the hoverkart is big and sturdy enough that you can traverse most uneven terrain. Of course, this will also depend on your electric scooter. However, the manufacturer itself recommends you take it easy at first, and try to simply drive it on a smoothly paved road. Likewise, if you do find yourself speeding downhill, the aluminum alloy and steel frame will make sure no matter the crash that your hoverboard is safe and sound.
The kart seat of course has an adjustable frame length and back support. So even if you buy this for your kid, you can still have a go at it when no one is looking – I won’t tell.
Before that, you should know that this accessory is not exactly a comfortable ride. While it has good maneuverability and it is pretty durable, the seat is a bit stiff and might get uncomfortable after a while. Of course, you can always put a small cushion on it, but why waste the extra effort and cushions?
The kart seat also takes a bit of time to assemble. Unlike our previous entries, this one will take around 10 minutes of your time, just so you can get it out of the door, which admittedly does not seem like much. However, if hoverboard go-karts have shown one thing, it’s that they only need 2 minutes to be put together, but at least this one is affordable.
Thus, if you are looking for a budget-friendly hoverboard attachment for kids, then you must also be looking for a good hoverboard for kids. Don’t worry friend, I got you covered.
- Affordable
- Maneuverable
- Durable
- Stiff seat
- Long assembly time
4. HoovyKart Conversion Kit – Fits Nearly All Hoverboards
The HoovyKart Conversion Kit is a safe and fun little hoverkart that is perfect for children
The design of this hoverboard seat is nothing unusual. You have two perfectly placed handles with padded foam, each of which provides a comfortable grip, allowing for smoother steering, as well as two footpads. While they might not be as good as the Go-Bowen Hoverkart, they are still top tier. The leg bar connecting the footpads to the main body is adjustable, meaning you can fit it to your comfort or your child’s. While the front wheel provides a 360° rotation, it will be easier to turn in whichever direction you are going.
All that is amazing and all, but I have to say that my favorite part of this particular hoverboard attachment is that it comes pre-built. You only need to strap it to your self-balancing scooter, and you’re good to go. It doesn’t even take 2 minutes. If you don’t know, I test these hoverboard kits with my little nephew, and most of the time, he has his own opinion about things. In this case, he tends to agree with me.
Now, since the little dude is such an opinionated child, I have decided to let him help me with the rest of this Hoovyboard review. According to him, the go hoverboard – as he is fond of calling them – is fun and all, but the seat is a bit stiff. I am reiterating, of course. If I let the lil’ dude write this, it would be filled with grammatical errors.
Getting back to my own opinion, as a whole, the hoverboard seat is nice but also seems a bit too generic. Nothing stands out good or bad. I feel like HoovyKart has chosen to go the safe route instead of innovating or trying something new, even if that new thing was doomed to fail, which of course I understand. As a consumer and reviewer, however, it’s not what I would like to see. The price is decent though.
So if you are looking for a standard hoverboard kit, that is also affordable. Likewise, there is no reason why you shouldn’t choose this one.
- Easy assembly
- Affordable
- Stiff seat
- Nothing exceptional
5. StreetSaw Hoverseat Attachment – Great All-Rounder
Well, now we are getting into the nitty and gritty. The StreetSaw Hoverseat looks like someone decided to turn a normal hoverboard into a Mad Max go-kart.
The hoverkart kit’s design is specifically made for drifting. The front wheel, apart from looking cool with those spikes, is shock-absorbent and so is the rest of the kart. Thanks to the mega wheel, you can go across dirt, grass, and so much more. While the shock-absorbent body is made out of carbon steel, you know it will last you a long time. The frame is of course adjustable, so even if you are on the shorter or even taller side, you will have a comfortable time. The seat, despite being of a single piece, is not as uncomfortable as some of the other entries, but I would have still liked some cushion padding. Behind it are two spring coils that act as a shock absorber, helping with the rougher terrain. However, the handles are a bit lower than I would have personally liked them to be, but at this point, I am just nitpicking.
I have to tell you though, my little nephew loved this hoverboard seat, and I tend to agree with him. It is one of the best I have ever tested and certainly one of the sexiest. I was not considering buying any of these hoverboard attachments after I finished the review, but in the end, lust made me do it, and I managed to snag one for the little dude – however, we both know that secretly, I bought it so I could use it myself.
I would recommend this hoverboard attachment to anyone who is looking for something more, something they can drive not only on a smooth road but on a bit more adventurous terrain.
- Durable
- All-terrain
- Great design
- Stiff seat
- Low handles
6. Hover-1 Raptor Hoverboard Buggy Attachment – Best Gimmick in a Hoverboard Attachment
We have arrived at the first of the Hover-1 brothers, yes there will be more of this brand – spoiler alert!
The Hover-1 Raptor makes you feel like you are riding a sports car, partly due to the slick design but mostly because of the dual boosters at the back. The boosters themselves don’t do much apart from glow with some bright LED lights and roar like a race car. You can see how the Hover-1 quickly became my nephew’s favorite.
However, while the boosters may seem like a gimmick, the rest of the hoverboard attachment does not. Despite being made of a single plastic piece, the seat is decently comfy, and the handlebars, while a bit too low for my liking, are padded for extra comfort. Below the hoverboard seat are a pair of spring coils that act as a shock absorber and add to the experience, making for a much more comfortable ride. As for the frame, it is, of course, adjustable, and the wheel is decent enough. However, the footpads are not the best quality, and adjusting the frame can be a bit of a pain.
Even with that, this hoverboard go kart is really maneuverable, and the shock-absorbent coils together with the wheel make for the perfect combination if you want to go off road. In fact, the manufacturer advertises this kart as one for camping and hiking, so I decided to test it out.
Of course, this will greatly depend on the hoverboard you have, but the attachment itself works perfectly well even in the wilderness. My little nephew had a blast riding this out in the open, thinking he was in a dirt track race.
I would definitely recommend this if you own some sort of off road hoverboard or if your kid is into race cars, like my nephew. If, for some reason, you don’t own an off-road hoverboard, it only means you missed my review on them. *Nudge* *Nudge* – *Wink* *Wink*
- Comfortable
- Slick design
- Great gimmick
- Footpads are subpar
7. Jetson JetKart Hoverboard Attachment – Best for a Smooth Ride in Nature
The Jetson JetKart Hoverboard Attachment, despite probably being inspired by a very old kids’ TV show, is actually a top-tier hoverkart.
It has a laid-back design, and the seat is optimized for relaxation. Now, this is my own opinion, but from what I have seen and tested, this has to be the best single-piece seat so far. The curvature is designed to fit any body type, and despite lacking some much-needed cushioning, you won’t notice any discomfort until you have sat for at least an hour, which is much better than some of the other models.
The handlebars are decently placed in proportion to the hoverboard seat and have some much-needed padding which adds an extra layer of comfort. Below them are a pair of spring coils that act as a shock absorber. Although the ride may get bouncy at times – depending on where you are riding – the spring coils absorb most of the impact.
The front wheel, which I have taken to calling a mega wheel – or rather my nephew has – is on the large side when compared to similar products. The mega wheel is made out of solid rubber and can easily cross most terrain, although it did feel a tiny bit flimsy. Even so, when you couple that with the shock absorber, you get a hoverboard attachment that you can take off road.
Then, there is the decently comfortable footrest and the main body, which is of course adjustable – nothing unusual here.
Personally, I decided to take this attachment with my brother, my nephew, and I on a camping trip – there is a reason after all why I am the favorite uncle. My little nephew had a blast, and he drove this thing right into the nearby lake. Luckily, the hoverboard attachment is waterproof, and the self-balancing scooter itself was also surprisingly fine. So yes, I think I can recommend this to anyone who is seeking a bit of extra fun when going camping. Just be careful around lakes.
- Comfortable
- Waterproof
- Off-road
- Front wheel feels flimsy
8. Hover-1 Beast Buggy – Best Off-Road Hoverboard Attachment
While we are on the topic of off-road hoverboard kits, we have the second of the three Hover-1 brothers, and that is the Hover-1 Beast Buggy.
To quote my nephew when he first saw this monstrosity “WOW.” The first part you should know about the Beast Buggy is that it only works with 10-inch hoverboards – in other words, off-road ones. Needless to say, this is one of the bigger entries on this list and certainly one of the heaviest. The design starts off simple enough with a standard single-piece hoverboard seat; however, you soon find yourself staring at two large shock-absorber coils on either side and realize that this hoverkart is far from simple.
The main body is, of course, adjustable, and the footrest, although a bit different, does the job well enough. However, I would still prefer to rest my feet on the padded version instead of this metal plate one. Now, when I say “mega wheel,” what do you imagine? For me, it’s this particular one. The hoverkart has a massive front wheel that is almost as big as the hoverboard ones. Of course, you can expect this monstrosity to take you anywhere, and rightly so. Although I did not go camping with my nephew a second time, I decided to test this one outdoors as well. I have to tell you that if you are looking for a smooth ride no matter where you go, this beast is the one for you – that is if you don’t mind the price.
The solid frame is built for durability, and the mega wheel along with the shock-absorbing coils make for a great adventure. The hoverboard attachment is extremely maneuverable with its quick-turn system. In fact, the only problem I can surmise from here are the handles. They are a bit too low for my liking, but you can get used to that, because I certainly did.
- Perfect for off-road
- Quick-turn system
- Durable
- Expensive
9. Hiboy HC-01 Hoverboard Seat – Best for Adults
You know adults can also enjoy hoverboards and hoverkarts. The manufacturer of the Hiboy HC-01 Hoverboard Seat probably thought the same thing.
The hoverboard attachment looks and feels sturdy. The plastic seat is surprisingly comfortable, and the handles are just at the right height, not to mention they are also padded. The frame is, of course, adjustable, and so are the footpads. The front wheel is not the best but gets the job done. As for the body, it’s made out of steel and is extremely durable, not to mention lightweight. However, I would not recommend going off-road with this one.
Now, this hoverboard attachment has been marketed as the most versatile on the market, and that is due to two things – the ergonomic seat and the maximum weight limit of 270 lbs. At first, I decided to test this out by stacking bricks on the hoverboard seat, but then I realized how stupid it was and scrapped the idea. My second method worked way better. I sat down in the seat and put my little nephew on my shoulders. Luckily for us, the seat did not collapse, so I would say the 270 lbs limit is pretty accurate.
There is one glaring issue, however, that I have not yet addressed. That is the assembly time. This hoverboard kit will take around 15 minutes to put together, which I know does not sound like a lot, but when you look at our other entries, some of which don’t even need 2 minutes, you will realize the significance of this number. Let’s be honest. Is it really worth it? What I mean is that the only significant part about its hoverkart is its high weight limit. I would say that there are more interesting options on this list. However, if you are just looking for a standard hoverboard attachment that can fit anyone in the family then this is the one for you.
- Durable
- Comfortable
- High weight limit
- Long assembly time
10. Hover-1 Buggy Attachment – Best Overall
Finally, we have arrived at the best of the hoverboard kits. This attachment is the best Hover 1 hoverboard and buggy combo kit, in other words – the best of both worlds.
The Hover-1 Buggy Attachment features a smooth comfortable seat to rival all others with perfectly placed handlebars and an aluminum frame. The frame is extremely durable and of course adjustable to any length your heart desires. As for the handlebars, they are comfortably padded making for a most enjoyable smooth ride. While the wheel itself can turn at 360 degrees, when you couple that with the independent rear-wheel drive functionality, you get excellent maneuverability.
The independent rear-wheel drive functionality will allow you to make sharp turns, drift, and even go backward. If you wanted your hoverboard to seem like a real go-kart, well, it doesn’t get as close as this. Unfortunately, it’s not all fun and games. The Hover 1 buggy has one glaring flaw that I simply cannot overlook. The hoverboard seat only works with 6.5-inch self-balancing scooters. If you have one that is larger than this, then maybe you should take a look at one of our other entries.
However, if you do have a 6.5-inch self balancing scooter, this hoverboard attachment is just for you. The Hover 1 buggy is affordable and easy to assemble, not to mention fun to drive. The nephew and I had a blast driving it around the neighborhood. I’m telling you the little dude is going to grow up to be a reviewer someday.
We also took the Hover 1 buggy to the wilderness; however, I don’t recommend you do that. This hoverkart was not built for the woods; instead, its strength lies in the comforts of human civilization. All in all, if you are looking for a fun ride in the neighborhood, it doesn’t get any better than this.
- Comfortable
- Maneuverable
- Affordable
- Durable
- Independent rear-wheel drive functionality
- Only works with 6.5-inch hoverboards
The Proper Hoverboard Attachment Buyer’s Guide
Age Group
Now, this may seem like an important factor to consider when buying a hoverboard attachment, but in reality, most seats fit a wide range of people, from young to old to very young. In essence, the hoverkart is made for everyone to enjoy. Even so, I believe it is best to look up the maximum weight the hoverboard seat can handle. If for some reason you can’t find the exact number, you can always email them and ask. Trust me, 90% of the time, they will be glad to help you.
Comfort
Ah, comfort is arguably the most important part of any seat, be it attached to a hoverboard or not. Most of the time, hoverkarts have single-piece plastic buckets – a notable exception is the Go-Bowen Hoverkart Kit. Now, these buckets may look uncomfortable from afar, but the truth is, it all depends on the build quality and shape. So I think it’s best to read some reviews before making a decision, which you are doing right now – wow! Did I just break the fourth wall?
Additional stuff like a shock absorber will also greatly impact your comfort, for obvious reasons – so will rubber tires which can dampen small amounts of unwanted shock. If, for some reason, that still does not do it for you, you can always glue a pillow underneath. Hey, as long as it works.
Compatibility
I am going to be honest with you. When I ordered my first hoverkart, I thought I was going to have to put everything together, so I was going to dedicate a whole Saturday just for that purpose. Imagine my surprise when the whole hoverboard attachment was already built. My point is that attaching it to your self-balancing scooter is not as difficult as it may seem at first. However, first and foremost, you need to consider the size of your hoverboard.
You see, while most attachments are compatible with every type of electric scooter, some only work with either smaller or larger ones. If you already have a hoverboard, then you will need to buy an attachment that can fit it. Most of the time, this isn’t too difficult as manufacturers tell you what is compatible.
If you are planning on buying your hoverboard with the attachment itself, that’s even better. Some brands even sell them as a package deal – not most but some. Actually, for a relatively new product, there are a lot of brands, so at times, it can be hard to find one that is actually good. Luckily, I am here to help. Being the good reviewer that I am, I wrote an article discussing which brands are the best.
Budget
I realize that different people have different accessibility and thinking when it comes to money. Some might even ask if hoverkarts are really worth it, and in my opinion, they are. You see, most hoverboard attachments are priced at the $60–90 range. This includes ones that have a shock absorber, comfortable seat, or those that can simply go off-road.
Of course, there are hoverkarts that can go up to $400, but that is a rarity, and at that point, you need to ask yourself if you are paying for brand recognition and some gimmicky feature or if it’s something you would actually like to have. This brings me to my next point. Don’t assume that expensive equals better – that is not always the case. Some really affordable hoverkarts can have the same value as some more expensive ones. What’s important is to look at all the features you are looking for and then compare the price to similar products of different brands – that’s my advice at least.
Design
Moving on, we have design. Design is an interesting topic because you can look at it with two minds – how the product was designed and how durable and easy to use it is. Comfort also falls into this category, but I already did a section on it, and I don’t like repeating myself. The other way you can look at it is the overall appeal of the product, how it looks, whether the colors fit, so on, and so forth.
First, let’s talk about how the product was made. Depending on the materials used, the hoverkart’s durability will vary. For example, if a frame was built with steel, it will be significantly tougher than one which is made from aluminum. If you want to go a step further, you can see how the hoverkart was made. Personally, I am not an engineer, so I can’t give my opinion on this. However, I am confident most people don’t need to delve that deep into things.
Secondly, let’s move onto everyone’s favorite part – fashion. This obviously comes down to personal choice, which colors you like, what combination of colors works best for you, and so on. Myself? I am really partial to black as it goes with everything. So if you are a sickler for the modeling world, you will need to find a hoverkart that fits your self-balancing scooter’s aesthetic, which may not be as easy as it seems. For some reason, most hoverboard attachments don’t have many color options to choose from, but a general rule of thumb I like to follow is that if a product is lighter in color, get a white accessory. Likewise, if it is darker, black is the way to go. Maybe that’s just me. Then again, you can always paint over the original design.
Closing Remarks
Well, that was a smooth ride wasn’t it? Actually, you know what would go great with these karts? The best self-balancing scooter on the market…ok, ok, I’m sorry. No more self-promotion – I promise.
I hope I helped you at least a little bit in making your decision. Choice fatigue is a thing, but you shouldn’t let that dictate your actions. Remember to look at all the pros and cons before making a decision. I like to make a Ted Mosby-like end by pulling out a yellow legal pad, just for fun. Although I guess most people are not that nerdy.
